Need some fundraising inspiration?
Take a look at the fundraising ideas below to get you started.
Host an event
Hosting your own fundraising event is a great way to raise money and the best part is that you can tailor events around your own interests and skills. Whether it's a quiz night, tea party, film night, coffee morning, gala dinner, talent show, skittles night or golf day, do something you love and fundraise at the same time!
Take on a challenge
Feeling brave? How about taking on a challenge to raise money. You could take part in an organised event (from local 5ks and fun runs to marathons and Iron Man events!) or you could organise your own sponsored challenge. Sports challenges are a great way to fundraise whether you’re skydiving, cycling, running, walking, swimming, or bog snorkelling (seriously – it’s a thing).
If sports aren’t for you, you could set yourself another type of challenge, like giving up something you love for a month, or doing an activity over a 24 hour period. Whether you’re giving up chocolate or completing a knitting marathon, any support you can give is hugely appreciated.
Cakes, cakes, cakes!
It is a simple fact that people love cake! So if you’re looking for a simple way to support sight research, slip on your apron, dust off your scales, and get stirring! You could hold a bake sale, host a coffee morning, have an honesty box cake stall outside your house or set up a local charity cake delivery service. There are hundreds and thousands of possibilities!
Hold a raffle
Raffles are a fantastic way to raise funds as part of a larger event. You can ask local businesses to donate raffle prizes and sell tickets to family, friends, and the general public. If you host your own raffle, be sure to check out the rules before you start. Have a look at our Fundraising safely and legally page for more information on this.
Get crafty
Are you a sketching superstar or a crochet connoisseur? Have you got the knack of knitting or a command of candle making? Use your crafts for good by selling your creations to raise money for sight research. You could sell your handiwork online using social media or you could run a stall at a local café, supermarket, craft fair or festival.
