Visual Field Test

A visual field test measures your entire scope of vision, both central and peripheral (side), mapping the visual fields of each eye individually. This allows an eye healthcare professional to check for blind spots or areas where your vision is less strong.

There are a number of different visual field tests used to measure either your peripheral or central vision.

An example of a visual field test for your central vision is the Amsler grid. Here, you will be presented with a grid with a dot in the centre which you will be asked to look at, one eye at a time, and note whether the grid lines around the dot seem distorted, faded or partially missing.
