Sight Research UK and Newmedica join together for an exciting Christmas venture

This Christmas, Sight Research UK is delighted to have Newmedica's support as we raise vital funds for research into eye disease.

Sight loss is an increasingly common concern in the modern world, affecting millions in the UK alone. 2.5 million people live with sight loss nationally, a population twice the size of Birmingham. Despite this devastating figure, which rises daily, only a small percentage of medical funding goes to eye research causes.

Sight Research UK is “Brightening lives through vision research” this festive season. We focus our efforts exclusively on fighting sight loss through the power of research, which is critical to turning scientific theories into real-life treatments. We have united with Newmedica this Christmas to meet our shared goal -to advance research and improve outcomes for those affected by sight loss.

Newmedica
cares for more than 165,000 NHS and private patients a year in more than 30 locations across England. They work with the NHS as well as local GPs and opticians to help treat and manage a range of advanced eye conditions in local communities.

Newmedica has generously pledged to match any gifts made to Sight Research UK up to the value of £10,000. So, until the 31st of December, your Christmas donations will have double the impact. Our Chief Executive at Sight Research UK, Charlotte Parkin, says,

"

We are absolutely thrilled to have the support of Newmedica for the 2024 Sight Research UK Christmas Campaign. This year our campaign “Brightening Lives through Vision Research” aims to raise vital funds to ensure we can continue our mission to fight eye disease through research. It is wonderful to be working with a sector leader who shares our passion for patient impact and improved outcomes in eye disease. Thanks to their generous pledge, we can match every Christmas gift made up to the value of £10,000 and further our work towards fighting for a clearer future for all. We are immensely grateful for Newmedica’s contribution and our shared endeavour to improve the lives of those living with sight loss.

Newmedica’s Managing Director, Rebecca Lythe, also weighs in on the company’s decision to back our Christmas campaign this year.

"

At Newmedica… We are proud to be part of this important initiative, helping to raise the vital funds needed to advance the fight against eye disease. As a leading provider of ophthalmology services, we share Sight Research UK’s commitment to improving patient outcomes and making a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by sight loss. Through our pledge to match Christmas donations up to £10,000, we hope to double the difference this campaign can make. Together, we are working to bring brighter futures through vision research.

Your collective gifts have the potential to brighten lives for good and we look forward to getting in touch in a few weeks with more details on how you can make a difference this Christmas.

Together we can beat sight loss faster.
